Her work was frst shown in New York at Merton Simpson Gallery, whose owner was a friend of Bearden. Over time Guyon moved through emulation of Bearden to a vision of her own. Her work is de- scribed as "contemporary ancient." Exhibited in New York, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Memphis, Los Angeles, and Lexington, Guyon's works are layered com - positions of organic materials and history. Inspired by poetry, Guyon creates collages with borders of painting much the way the words of a poem appear on a printed page.
